Before, when there was still no nationalism, people were loyal to their leaders rather than their nation. The term nationalism was founded by Johann Gottfried Herder during the 1770s. This term gave rise to the French and American Revolution in the 18th century, and since then, nationalism became one of the most significant terms in history. Many definitions were founded and given, but perhaps the most important would be that nationalism is the devotion and loyalty to one’s own nation. A nation that clearly demonstrated that definition were the Filipinos. Many heroes were revealed through the course of Filipino history, and they gave meaning to nationalism. Heroes like Lapu-Lapu, Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio are just some of the patriots who showed the true meaning of nationalism. This website will show you some of the most important nationalists, and it will certainly help people to appreciate further the heroes of our history.
